One Sunday, two friends of mine and I went to our Rugby World Cup experience. We watched Fiji and Samoa, “The Battle of the Pacific Islanders” duke it out at Eden Park Stadium. The stadium (like everything else in New Zealand) was rather small compared to what I have experienced in the past. However, it was really nice and clean, and the atmosphere was great. We watched the two teams perform their Hakas, a war dance common to Pacific Islanders, in order to intimidate each other and warm up the crowd pre-game. The game itself was pretty boring. Not too much action and Samoa dominated the whole time. It was fun and cool to experience a game at the Rugby World Cup (which is apparently the third largest global sporting event following the Olympics and World Cup Soccer, who knew?)
